Building a Fictional Dynasty

A dynasty story needs both scale and intimacy. The reader must understand the machinery of the family enterprise while remaining close to the people whose decisions keep it alive—or place it at risk.

The Ashworth family was built generation by generation. Each character receives an inheritance of opportunity, obligation and incomplete truth. Their response to that inheritance creates the emotional architecture of the series.

Continuity matters, but so does change. As the family evolves, recurring objects, locations and phrases acquire new meanings, giving the saga a sense of accumulated memory.
